About Group 8 Education

Group 8 Education has developed significant capabilities in the area of leadership development and school transformation over the last six years based on experiences with 110 schools in Victoria and 22 in England (references and case studies available on request).

At the heart of this development is the recognition that to put students in the optimal mind state for learning requires a school culture that respects, believes in and listens to both children and adults. Through this approach, many, if not all, of the outcomes sought in the ECM agenda can be met.

Group 8 has now documented its significant learning in an easy to read and practical book, ‘The Success Zone’ (details below).

Published by Global Publishing, and distributed by Denis Jones and Associates, ‘The Success Zone’ will be available in Australian bookstores in February 2010.

The Book:

Book Concepts:

  • Quickly know and label helpful and not-so-helpful mind states through the Blue Zone/Red Zone approach
  • Learn how to increase awareness of mind and brain, and build better relationships as a leader, teacher, parent, or even just as a world citizen
  • Learn how to create the conditions where change is less painful, and easier to sustain
  • Learn how to stay calm under pressure
  • Learn the secrets of coaching that help create new outcomes for people
  • Learn how to lead an organisation into being a Blue Zone organisation

In particular, areas covered in the book include:

  • The Blue and Red Zone mind states: People who consistently engage from their Blue Zones are collaborative, creative, bright and optimistic. Through this ‘mindset’, they create the conditions in their own brain, and in those of people around them, where growth, change and optimism emerge
  • Staying Cool Under Pressure: Recent neuroscience research is uncovering strategies that help you be your best, even when the going gets tough
  • Powerful Questioning: Knowing the best questions helps access reflection, clarity and insight, and engages the Blue Zone for all.
  • Learning to Listen: We often just listen, without knowing how it is we could listen. Learn how it is that influential people leave you with the feeling that you are the only person in the room.
  • Conversations for Growth: By putting it all together, learn key conversations that engage yourself, and others, in true self growth. Learn how to have better social and professional conversations, and learn how to have the difficult and essential conversations.

Books will be available for purchase to individuals, or schools, and will be available for author signings.
